Common questions

Is the German fishing exam the same everywhere?

No. Fishing law is state law, and the question catalogues differ between the Bundesländer. The app currently contains questions from Baden-Württemberg's official catalogue; other states are added only once their official catalogue is available word for word, with no rebuilt or AI-invented questions.

What is tested in Baden-Württemberg?

Five areas: general fish biology, specific fish species, waters and fish stewardship, tackle and the handling of caught fish, and the law. The written exam has 60 questions in two hours; you pass with at least 45 correct and at least half in each area.

Do I still need the preparation course?

Yes. In Baden-Württemberg a recognised course of at least 32 hours is compulsory. The app is the practice tool alongside it, not a replacement for it.

Do I need German to use the app?

The app's menus come in twelve languages, but the exam itself is in German, so the questions stay in German and you practise the vocabulary you will see on the paper.
